We invite you to join us at Winchester College Chapel on Good Friday to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Bach’s St John Passion. Bach Winchester Voices will perform a haunting and dramatic musical depiction of the Passion of Christ, as told in the Gospel of John. This special performance has been created to raise funds for the University of Southampton Gift of Sight Appeal, supporting vital research into blinding eye diseases.

Pre-performance drinks will be served at 6pm, before the event begins at 7pm.

Grateful thanks to Jon Newman for organising the event. The programme will be directed by Andrew Hayman, with Sebastian Hill as Evangelist, Alex Bower-Brown as Jesus and Benjamin Watkins as Pilate.

Please be aware that seat numbers will not be allocated – your booking reserves you a place in the nave or side chantry respectively.  When Bach wrote the manuscript it was to be performed in one piece. There will, however, be a short comfort break built into our programme. You may wish to bring a cushion for the wooden nave seats!

If you have any issues with the online booking process please telephone 023 8059 7239 to talk with one of our colleagues.

We're looking forward to seeing you on Good Friday. If you have any general enquiries (not to book)  please don't hesitate to call us on 023 8059 9073 or 023 8059 5921. If you are unable to join us we'd really appreciate it if you could please make a donation here (adding a 'tribute' of St. John Passion') to help us make this event successful.  Thank you.
