Typically, women aged between 45-55 will experience menopause or perimenopausal symptoms. However, it is important to recognise that some women may experience menopause at different ages and some trans and non-binary people may also experience menopausal symptoms. Menopausal symptoms can include hot flushes, brain fog, mood swings, anxiety and irregular periods. These symptoms can have a significant impact on people in the workplace.
The University Menopause Working group (a sub-group of the Staff Wellbeing Working Group) invite staff and PGRs to join a Menopause Safe Listening Space. Menopause Safe Listening Spaces provide an opportunity for confidential, open discussion focused on lived experience in a safe environment. Safe Listening Spaces will be held via Teams. Sessions will not be recorded to protect the confidentially of attendees. Any key themes arising from the sessions will be anonymously shared with the working group to support future working.
Safe Listening Spaces will be facilitated by Menopause Working Group Members; Libby Barton, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Specialist; and Heather Pasero, Career Consultant.
