User Consultation Workshop on Digital Collections

Friday 3rd November 2023, 1:00pm

Do you use Digital Collections from Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums as part of your research? If so, we would like to hear from you.

We are excited to invite you to participate in a user study workshop. Your participation in this workshop will provide invaluable insights that will contribute to improving the research landscape and access to digital cultural heritage resources.

This workshop aims to bring together a range of arts and humanities researchers. Together, we will collaborate to develop user requirements for a future digital collections infrastructure. This infrastructure will cater to the needs of the research community by enabling the storage, use, analysis, and preservation of complex collections data from Galleries, Archives, Libraries, and Museums.

This research is part of the "Towards a National Collection" (TaNC) program, which aims to open up and democratize access to cultural heritage collections across the UK. This user consultation ensures that the program meets the needs of the people who will be using it.

TaNC is a five-year investment from the UK Research and Innovation’s Strategic Priorities Fund, delivered by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). It is designed to take the first steps toward creating the digital infrastructure for a national collection by dissolving barriers between different cultural heritage collections.

The University of Portsmouth Heritage Hub is teaming up with our friends at Southampton Digital Humanities to host this workshop. Hope to see you there.
