CHEP online workshop: Education-Focussed Network meeting: Developing peer support for teaching
Monday 10th July 2023, 10:00am
This session is aimed at Education-focussed academic staff and will explore how the Education-Focused Network can help foster peer support for the development of teaching practice.
During this session we will review the first year of the network and provide opportunities to feedback on how the network can support your teaching practice in the future. We will also explore a case study of peer support developed by Dr Neta Shaby (School of Education). ‘Problems of Practice’ is a form of group support where a small group of peers meet regularly to present problems or challenges they are facing (for example: ‘how can I engage students in discussion during a lecture?’).
Discussions
are facilitated by a trained ‘leading teacher’ to help peers to
describe and interpret the situation to offer new perspectives and
solutions. This method is part of the ‘Inquiry of Practice’ approach,
promoting productive discourse around pedagogy.
