Festival of Open Research 2023
Wednesday 28th June 2023, 10:00am
The second Festival of Open Research will celebrate the open research taking place here at the University of Southampton. This face-to-face event will introduce staff and postgraduate students to vital themes in open research, and is the perfect place to learn about the increasing focus placed on open practices across all disciplines. Our Senior Vice-Present, Professor Phillip Wright, will open the festival, after which Professor Dorothy Bishop from the University of Oxford will present a keynote on ‘Open science in a world of fake research’.
The festival takes place on Wednesday 28 June 2023 from 1000-1700 in Building 58.
We want to give you the opportunity to share your (open) practices in a round of lightning talks, short 3-5 minute ‘presentations’ that can showcase current open research and illustrate our diversity in disciplinary practices. If you want to contribute a Lightning Talk, please indicate this when registering for your ticket.
After lunch, there will be four parallel sessions showcasing examples of open research practice across disciplines and career stages, as well as a plenary debate about relevant open research topics.
The festival will conclude with refreshments and some open research prizes!
