Artificial Intelligence: Past, Present, Future... Singularity? | Film Screening + Talks

A special evening of short talks by humanities scholars on the topic of artificial intelligence, followed by a reception and a showing of the 2013 Spike Jonze film 'Her'.
Talks include:
- Kendrick Oliver: "Early conceptions of artificial intelligence and its consequences"
- Chris Fuller: "The US-China AI arms race: how history can help us understand the peril, promise, and path of this competition"
- Will McNeill: "What's really inside the black box?"
- James Baker: "Generative AI and the climate crisis"
- Sofia Bull and Matt Kerr: "Learning machines: teaching AI in literature and film"
Check-in: from 17:30, just outside the Avenue Cafe' in front of the main entrance from the car park to Building 65.
